anders_maeland02Anders Faugstad Mæland of Din-Tur, has been a birder since his childhood in the late 80`s, and has since then been known as one of the most successful rarity-finders in Norway. Willet, Harlequin Duck and Semipalmated Plover are only a few of many extraordinary records norwegian twitchers can thank this man for. Mæland is educated as a nature conservationist, and has done field work and surveys for many big bird related projects in Norway. He is also a skilled ringer, and has been in charge for the ringing activity on Jomfruland Ringing Station in Telemark for years. From 2012 he is the main ringer on the newly established ringing station near Nesseby in Varanger. Besides birding Norway, Mæland also enjoy birding abroad - mentioning Thailand among his favourite birding destinations abroad.
