BirdingTours Europe Turkey Introduction

Our guests about Turkey

I very much enjoyed Turkey, the birding, the landscape, the people, the food, our group, etc. It is a place I would very much enjoy visiting again. I thought Emin was a very good guide with a lot of enthusiasm and energy; as well as great sense of humour. All in all, an excellent trip! G. d’E Canada

Our flight home was uneventful. Arrived Brisbane this morning on time. We enjoyed sharing the Recce with you both and look forward to catching up shortly. B.&L W. Australia

It really was a great trip! Lots of different habitats and birds that come along with the change in landscape. The food was terrific and we really did travel as friends. You and Pieter, as always, organized a memorable and enjoyable adventure. J.O’B Canada

Impressions of Turkey

Bald-IbisIn 2012 we had our first birding tour to this fascinating country. We all loved this experience, not only because of the birds, but also because of the many pleasant and interesting aspects of this country. Beautiful scenery, superb food and lovely people. In this new 'recce' trip we will visit the south of Turkey, travelling from the southeastern part of the country in a westerly direction. We have chosen this area because of the high density of different habitats caused by the influence of oriental and African elements. The Hakkari-Van plateaus, where we start this tour, exhibits the influence of Asiatic flora and fauna. Here we can find birds such as the Red-wattled Lapwing, Mongolian Finch and Grey necked Bunting, also the Cream-coloured Courser and Little Swift. With this extremely high diversity of habitats, Turkey is considered by many to be the best country for birds and birding in Europe..Bearded-Tit
Special CommentIt goes without saying that all our accommodation is of the usual very high standard as all Worldwide Birding Tours. This tour is relaxed and recommended if comfort and easy pace is required. Our tour starts at Van, a city in the southeast of Turkey, surrounded by beautiful Lakes and mountains. From there we travel westwards for a couple of days visiting a good variety of habitats. We will pass Birecik where we hope to see the Bald Ibis, then  moving on to Gaziantep.  From Adana we will visit the Cukurova Delta with its many lagoons and finally we will spend time at the Goksu Delta, which is a complex of habitats, with long sand dunes, a freshwater lake, brackish lagoons and agricultural fields of a Subtropical nature. The whole tour promises to give us a real variety of habitats and birds. We hope you can join us!
All our guests always have regular options, either join-in with the tour group birding and wildlife viewing or opt-out and enjoy your own company. You, the client, have choices unlike with so many other group tours!
Reserving your place is both easy and inexpensive. A deposit of € 250 is all we require! Book online...

Latest Trip Report Turkey

Sultan-MarshesWe had visited Turkey during September 2012. The tour was a "recce" tour. We had travelled from the Sultan Marshes, to the Adalaglar Mountains, Goksu Delta and from there to Adana and Gaziantep. Although September is not the very best time to visit Turkey, we all had a marvelous tour, enjoying good birding, beautiful scenery, fantastic food and lovely people. Turkey will certainly be one of our prime destinations in the future.

EminEmin yogurtcuoglu.
Although Emin is still young (26 years old) he is considered to be one of the best birding guides in Turkey. He is extremely enthusiastic and will not rest before everybody in the group has seen the bird he wants to show. He is not only a very knowledgeable guide, but probably also one of the most enjoyable with his catching sense of humour. We have worked this year with him and are very happy that we could contract him again for this tour.

Peter Jones as guide and Tourleader.
Author, naturalist, co-founder of Spanish Nature and founder of the Andalucia Bird Society. Peter has been involved in a great many environmental projects and has had several works published over many years. Peter has a passion for birds, having also been involved in scientific research into birds for over 36 years, but his many interests also extend to flora and fauna. Peter is well known and liked by the great many who have already been guided by him in many different countries. There can be no finer testimony to Peter's popularity than the fact that many friends of various tour operators will sign-on tours in the knowledge he is their guide.
Tour leader: Each tour will have a representative of Worldwide Birding Tours to accompany it, ensuring attention to detail, and fullfilling our pledge not to send you on holiday, but to take you.
